The 2021 collection draws inspiration from the tropical paradise of Puerto Rico. Deep blue hues of the ocean, luscious pluvial forest greens and shades of the dreamy island sunset come together with prints and textures that replicate the look of the animals and fauna which inhabit the natural reserves of the island.
Puerto Rico holds a special place in the heart of Beniki founder Guendalina Buzzanca. Guen has a unique connection with the island as her oldest daughter has been born there, and the family regularly revisits the mesmerising beauty of Puerto Rico.
During the design process for the upcoming collection, Guendalina was shocked by the amount of plastic waste and discarded fishing equipment washed up on the shores of this paradise. In response to the staggering growth of ocean pollution, she decided to make the next collection as sustainable as possible and switched production.The Puerto Rico collection is made from Econyl, a form of nylon that is made entirely from waste products. It is made from a range of post-consumer waste, including abandoned fishing nets, carpets, and rigid textiles. It aims to be a green alternative to the original product, which is made from a derivative of oil.
In addition, all of our products come in a reusable pouch, which is perfect for storing make-up or your wet bikini after a day at the beach.
